Topic: Physical Goods: A Realist’s Guide to Hardware Startups
As the lone hardware engineer at various startups, Zac experienced all facets of electronics product development, and made many mistakes alone the way. In this tongue-in-cheek talk, he highlights some of those mistakes and how to avoid them, as well as reasons why it is better to make software.
Zac Wheeler has spent the past eight years in technical leadership roles at a series of connected hardware startup companies in the Portland metro area, two of which were acquired. He has broad experience in the startup lifecycle, from market and product definition to design, and from project management to systems architecture.

Topic: APOC: Mini Radiation Detector
Matt Chapman of ExcelPhysics, makers of the APOC: Mini Radiation Detector will talk about their experience designing their product and getting ready for their successful Kickstarter campaign which has (at the time of this writing) raised 7.5 times their target goal.
APOC: Mini Radiation Detector is a compact and low-cost alternative to expensive and bulky Geiger counters. Finally: understand the radioactivity that’s all around you.
Matthew is a dreamer, an inventor, a hardware expert, and a propulsion engineer with a solid base in physical sciences, astronautical engineering, and material science, specifically focusing on materials handling and manufacturing processes. He has numerous rocket and aerospace inventions and developments under his belt. Matthew is working to cut air transit times to under one hour, from anywhere to anywhere in the world using primarily air-breathing engines.
