We have another fantastic lineup for the next Hack Things meetup on Monday, Dec 16, 2013. This is one to really get pumped up about.

Amulyte: First up will be Jaclyn Konzelmann, co-founder of Amulyte, which was part of YCombinator’s summer 2013 class. Amulyte is an emergency-response device for the elderly that comes packaged as a sleek, wearable pendant. When the pendant’s button is pressed, family members are quickly signaled and bi-directional communication is established through the device. Additionally, it tracks activity, giving family members a view of the wearer’s location and activity level.

Ambient Backscatter: Next, we’ll have Aaron Parks. Aaron is a PhD student at UW working in the Sensor Systems Lab. He researches low-powered devices and will be talking about some remarkable research he’s doing on a project called Ambient Backscatter. They’ve created devices that are powered solely by ambient RF signals.

Highway1: Finally, we’ll have Brady Forrest, who runs Highway1, a hardware incubator. They have a fantastic program that helps entrepreneurs become serious hardware entrepreneurs. Their curriculum covers product development, design for manufacture, and supply chain. They also help turn ambition into a real business. Brady will be sharing the story of a team who went through their incubator.

Everyone loves the open mic time, so we’ll continue giving everyone a chance to share what they’re working on after the presentations wrap up. We hope you can join us!
