Handibot is a smart power tool controlled by your smartphone
Software continues to eat the world of hardware and today Handibot launched on Kickstarter as a prime example of the trend. They’re off to a great start 2 hours into their launch — 28% funded out of a $125,000 goal.
Handibot is a robotic, multi-purpose tool for makers that’s controlled by smart phones and computers via programmable apps. Think of it as a portable CNC that’s capable of cutting, drilling, carving, and many other machining operations.
We believe that smartphone-controlled hardware will be the default for many kinds of physical products sold within 5 to 10 years — especially tools. Handibot is a great early example. Just think of disconnected tools for sale today and how incapable and archaic they seem in comparison to this. Handibot may be more practical than a 3D printer for a lot of maker scenarios. Zach, I think you would dig this one.
