Smartphone UI for Arduino (Annikken Andee now available on iOS)

Practically any hardware product concept these days will have a smart phone component. Not just to tap the computing power and connectivity, but because better overall user experiences can be provided.

Arduino is the rapid prototyping platform of choice for many hardware product concepts in their early stages, but connecting to a smartphone is still pretty hard, and prototyping a smartphone UI is to byte off a lot of effort. So when Annikken Andee launched back in July with an Arduino shield for creating Android UIs, we thought it was a great idea.

Today, they’re launching Annikken Andee for iOS — an Arduino shield designed to communicate with iOS device (iPhone, iTouch, iPad) using bluetooth 4.0. With Annikken Andee for iOS, Arduino developers can create a functional UI on their iOS devices without having to do any iOS programming at all. Not to mention, since the UI design and prototyping happens within an app, no iOS developer account is necessary. Perfect for rapid prototyping and concept testing.

Annikken Andee for iOS Starter-kit Bundle is available with an early bird discount to the first 100 customers of USD$79 and thereafter at USD$89. The After the preorder period pricing jumps to $99.

The Annikken Andee for iOS Starter-kit Bundle ** ** is comprised of the following:

1x Annikken Andee for iOS

1x Arduino Leonardo-compatible Board

1x Surprise gift

Since the device is similar to their Android shield and they’ve been through the manufacturing process before, they claim they’ll be ready to ship pre-orders out by April 15th, 2014.
